We look forward each year to this opportunity to be "out in the community" with our booth and displays. Our three-tent "pavilion" is becoming a landmark of the event, sure to be worth visiting. In addition to offering a unique exhibit each year, we make available books and the items in our "History in Your Hand" series.
After a 2-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were thrilled to be back in person for this fun community event! Our 2022 displays celebrated 150 years of Fall City's history, starting with the establishment of the post office. Visitors to our booth explored the 1872-2022 Timeline in Photos, early King County platting maps, and more recent aerial views of the Fall City area.
In about 1886, David "Doc" Taylor built a store (with dancing hall above) on River Street – the first large building in Fall City, platted in 1887. He soon added a small restaurant, on left in photo, and a two-story building, on the right, which served both as the Taylor home and an informal hotel for the area for several years before being lost to fire.
We enjoyed talking with many visitors during the day,
exploring some of Fall City's history.
